Hunt County Shared Ministries Goes Green

Garden HarvestStarting in 2020, Hunt County Shared Ministries will begin the process of making a difference in a new way in our community. We want to be responsible partners in Hunt County and hope that our example will encourage you and others to be more engaged in going green.

Here are some of the ways we will be going green:

1. All bags we use to distribute food will be biodegradable and/or compostable.

2. All cardboard and plastic will be recycled.

3. We will be working with local organizations like Keep Greenville Beautiful and city and county governments to help plan and create green spaces dedicated and deemed safe from development. These areas can be planted with trees, native grasses and wildflowers to help create more clean air.

4. We will receive seedling trees from the Forestry Service to grow and then give away to clients, schools and others to plant.

5. We will be expanding our Community Garden program.

6. We will be working on grants to purchase and install solar panels for our building.

7. We will recognize our Community Partners and others by planting trees in their honor.

There will be more to come! Watch our Facebook page for the latest updates and ways that you can partner with us on our green projects.
